We can all relate to the perennial conundrum of trying to find a standout jacket or coat for those awkward ‘inbetween seasons’. This is why Biannual was created. “I want a coat that is thoughtful as well as warm,” says the brand’s creative director, 25-year-old Dani Roche, founder of multi-disciplinary design studio Kastor & Pollux. “There’s nothing that I’ve found in the market that has a cool silhouette at an accessible price point.”
Biannual is the new clothing brand changing the way we think about outerwear. “Not only is the brand 100% vegan (meaning they do not use any real leather or down and all coats are naturally water resistant) but they also release just two collections per year – hence the name.
With versatility being one of the brand’s key pillars—whether that’s gender, season or purpose—Biannual is a breath of fresh air.
From contrasting, colour-blocked, puffa jackets (filled with ‘supremeloft’, the brand’s exclusive fill created with recycled cashmere), shaggy fur hooded jackets and silky-soft lightweight down bombers as well as metallic camo, fur lined puffas, Biannual is functional but conceptual. Take one look at the design of their website and Instragram for an idea of the brand’s DNA – it looks like it’s come straight out of 2001 and their stills look like they’ve slipped out of a Stanley Kubrick movie. Definitely a brand to watch.
