Delfina Delattrez Turns Insects into Jewellery

Resin preserved insects made exclusively for Dover Street Market

  • Written by Iona Goulder

Delfina Delettrez is somewhat obsessed with insects. Something about their grotesque beauty fascinates her enough to keep coming back to these motifs inspired by these creatures with every collection. For her latest collection, called INSECTIMANIA, exclusively for Dover Street Market Delettrez is delving into the fetishistic relationship we have things that simultaneously fascinate and repel us.

Mixing a study of nature and her own experience overcoming entomophobia (an irrational fear of insects) the collection is made up of earrings, brooches and pendant necklaces featuring claws, beetle bodies and wings. Each brooch includes a taxidermy insect from her personal collection, preserved in resin to form the tail. The whole collection features pieces which in their new forms take on a new sculptural life.

Find the full collection in the DSM Jewellery Space, where brooches will be placed under lab-style maxi microscopic lenses.
