Go See Yosemite’s Firefall

Now is the time to catch the national park's otherworldly phenomenon

  • Written by Amuse Team

On visible for a few weeks every February, Yosemite National Park’s Horsetail Fall aka the “firefall” turns bright orange like lava and appears to flow from the California cliffs, drawing in hundreds of people every night.

Don’t worry, it’s not lava – it’s an optical illusion caused by the angle of the setting sun hitting the water, giving the appearance of a fall of fire.

Head out to Yosemite ASAP if you want to catch a glimpse. Check out the park’s website to find out the best spot to look at it from and the best route to drive there.
